Prioritize Versions - Segmented Campaign

Print Friendly and PDF Follow

There will be a Prioritize Versions tile on Segmented Campaign Home.

By default, it will be toggled to "on".

Prioritize Versions "On"

When toggled to "on", recipients will only receive the first version they are an audience for.

With prioritization "on", admins will drag and drop versions to change the order.

NOTE: For a prioritized Segmented Campaign, there will only ever be one email sent to a given email address. If you assign different ID numbers to different version audiences, but the accounts share the same email address, only one message will be sent to the highest version.

The number in the priority column will update after the drag and drop is complete

Prioritize Versions "Off"

When toggled to "off", recipients can receive multiple versions if they are part of the selected audience.

With prioritization "off", admins will be unable to change the order.

There won't be a priority column showing in the versions grid.

Prioritization Scenarios (Prioritization "on")

Category Scenario Expected Results
Released A Segmented Campaign with versions is released
  • The audience will be calculated between versions to ensure a recipient (Member ID) only receives the highest priority version.
  • If a recipient (Member ID) is in the audience for more than one version, then at time of send the recipient should only receive the first email they are included in regardless of the version's schedule.
  • If there is more than one Member ID for the same email address, then the existing process for determining which record will receive the message is followed. Example: spouses who have separate records but the same email address is used in both of them. Only one of the records will receive the email.
Recipient Changes - Scenario #1 A recipient is removed from a lower priority version which has NOT been sent AND added into a higher priority version that has been sent
  •  The recipient will not receive either version.
Recipient Changes - Scenario #2 A recipient was sent a higher priority version AND then removed from the higher priority version and added to a lower priority version which has NOT been sent.
  • The recipient will not receive the lower priority version when it is sent.
  • If higher priority version is recurring, then they will start receiving the lower priority version once the next recurrence of the higher priority version is sent.
Recipient Changes - Scenario #3 A recipient was sent a higher priority version AND added to a lower priority version which has NOT been sent.
  • The recipient will not receive the lower priority version when it is sent.
  • If the higher priority version is recurring, then they will continue receiving the higher priority version once the next recurrence of the higher priority version is sent.
Return to Draft  A Segmented Campaign with versions is returned to Draft AND at least one of the versions has been sent.
  •  The versions can be re-prioritized, including versions that have been sent.
  • Since one of the versions was already sent, the system will determine if a recipient (Member ID) needs to be excluded from any other version of the Segmented Campaign.
Failed to Send - Scenario #1  One of the versions in the Segmented Campaign fails on send.
  •  Regardless of the status, the audience will be captured on send.
  • The recipient will still receive the highest priority email version they are included in, unless that is the version that failed to send.
  • If the same recipient is also in a lower priority version, that version won't go to them since their audience was captured for a higher priority version even if it failed to send.
Failed to Send - Scenario #2 The audience failed to get captured during send in a version with a higher priority.
  • The lower priority version(s) will not be able to send until the higher version audience(s) are resolved.
