Browser Change
Beginning on February 4, 2020, Google announced that updates to it’s Chrome web browser includes the “default” activation of certain, behind-the-scenes settings related to website cookie handling. Specifically, in Chrome version 80 and beyond, cookies that do not include two, particular code attributes will not be accessible by third parties, such as ad tech companies.
Anthology Encompass does employ the use of cookies for a variety of platform-level functions, such as user/admin authentication and session tracking. All cookies are stored using the domain of the page the browser is currently viewing. Cookies stored in this mode are known as a first-party cookie and, as such, is not affected by the Chrome update. Anthology Encompass staff tested the new Chrome settings across a range of production websites/implementations using a checklist of typical use cases and mock transactions. No errant behavior is observed. Should a customer or user experience otherwise, Anthology Encompass Customer Support Team should be notified for further investigation.
