Data Field Types
You can add several different types of data fields to a Form. When adding a field, use the drop-down list to select the best suited for the type of data you wish to collect. The table below lists the available Data Field Types and gives a short description of each.
Field Type Conversions
Once you create a data field, the types of fields you can convert are limited. For example, you can easily convert a Checkbox to a Drop-down List. However, to convert a Drop-down list to a Checkbox, the Drop-down list (Original Field) must be a Yes/No list.
The table below lists the Original Field Type, the Conversion Field Type (you can change the type of field), and the Original Field Requirements (the way the original field must be set up for it to be converted).

CEEB Lookup - College |
Allows users to look up their College CEEB code. |

CEEB Lookup – High School |
Allows users to look up their High School CEEB code. |

Check Box |
Allows users to select a True (checked) or False (unchecked) value. Includes the option to Customize Values: Select the desired Import/Export Values and Display Values from the drop-downs. |

Check Box Series |
Allows users to select one or more True/False options. The values are stored by a required delimiter (a single character, like a comma) that divides the data. |

Commerce Amount Field |
This is an open amount commerce field. |
| Commerce Dropdown | Displays a list of options in a drop-down format. (Fair Market Value setting is only available on events.) |

Commerce Item Field |
This is a combination item amount/price field. |
| Country Drop Down List | Allows users to select a Country value from a pre-defined list that users cannot change. This is a required field for the Country field to use with Address Validation. |

Date Box |
A text box pre-formatted to accept only data in M/D/YYYY format. |
|
Date Time Box |
A text box set is formatted to accept M/D/YYYY dates, and the other is formatted to accept H:MM AM or H:MM PM. |

Drop Down List |
Allows users to select a value from a list you define. You will specify the options and associated data values. |

Email Text Box |
Pre-formatted to accept an email address (text in a name@domain.com style format). |

Email Text Box Confirm |
Requires a user to repeat the information they entered into an email textbox and then checks that data against the original data to ensure both entries are identical. This ensures that suitable information is collected. |

File Upload |
Allows a user to search his / her hard drive for a file and submit it to the server. File size must be less than 10MB. If you have multiple File Upload fields on a form, the total of all the files must be under 10MB. |

Hidden Value |
A value is automatically set upon a member completing a given step or form. |
|
Label |
A static area to display text to the user. |
|
ListBox |
An open box showing several items from which a user may select only one. You will specify the options and associated data values. |
|
MultiSelect Box |
Allows users to select multiple values from a list you define. You must specify the Field Delimiter Character (such as a , or ;) that will divide the data options. |
|
Password Box |
A text input box that displays asterisks (*) in place of the actual characters a user types. |
|
Radio Button Series |
Provides users with a list of items from which they may select only one. You will specify the options and associated data values. |
|
Rich Text |
A text entry area allows limited data formatting (such as bolding or italicizing the text). |
| State Drop Down List | Allows users to select a State value from a pre-defined list that users cannot change. This is the required field for the State for use with Address Validation. |
|
Text Box |
Allows users to enter any combination of letters and numbers (99 character limit). |
|
Text Box Confirm |
To ensure both entries are identical, users must repeat the information they entered and check that data against the original data. This ensures that suitable information is collected. |

Text Box – Currency Decimal |
Requires users to enter a numerical, decimal amount |
|
Text Box Distinct |
This requires a value to be entered that other online community members have not used. |
|
Text Area |
A text entry box that can accommodate multiple lines of text. (Character limit is over 2 billion; however, the default character export limit to 1,000 characters. NOTE: Support can increase this to 4,000 if needed.) |

Text Area Large |
A large text entry box that can accommodate longer entries. (Character limit is over 2 billion; however, the default character export limit to 1,000 characters. NOTE: Support can increase this to 4,000 if needed.) |

Time Zone Drop Down |
A drop-down box lists time zones (Eastern, Central, Mountain or Pacific Standard / Daylight time). |
|
Time Box |
A pre-formatted text box to accept text in an H:MM AM or H:MM PM format. |
