Protocol communication standards upgraded to TLS 1.2
Transport Layer Security (TLS) is a cryptography protocol that ensures private, secure communications over an internet browser connection.
What this change means for merchant providers:
To comply with the latest industry standards surrounding merchant-secure communications, iModules has discontinued support for TLS 1.0 and 1.1 encryption protocol. This means that we have eliminated support for certain older and less-secure forms of TLS, and will respond only to those using TLS 1.2. These changes require clients to ensure that their computing environments are compatible with TLS 1.2, and may require users to upgrade or configure their browsers.
The current industry standard version is TLS 1.2. It has been determined that TLS 1.0 has significant enough vulnerabilities that the PCI Standards Council, along with other security bodies, have decreed that web providers remove support for TLS 1.0 by June 2018.
TLS 1.2 support status by web browser:
|TLS 1.2 Protocol
|Microsoft Internet Explorer
|Disabled by default
For more information about TLS/SSL support history, review the "Web Browsers" section of the Wikipedia article "Transport Layer Security". Don't see your browser listed? Feel free to check your browser's TLS compatibility using SSLLabs.com.
